Cracked by Eliza Crewe

Cracked follows a girl called Meda, shes a 17 year old girl in an insane asylum. However she is there by choice, posing as an innocent crazy girl setting the perfect trap for the sadistic murdering nurse that resides there. Meda can see ghosts and they will pester her until justice is done to their murderers. However Meda isn’t a normal girl, she eats people (well technically their souls but it can get messy). Her mother made her promise to only eat ‘bad’ people and Meda is hungry, the nurse won’t know whats coming. On her escape from the asylum she runs into 3 men exactly like her, she has no idea what she is and wants to ask questions however, she is asked a question and obviously gives the wrong answer because bam! They start attacking and her super speed and super strength are nothing in comparison to these guys. Cue saviour guy (Chi), a member (trainee) of the ancient order that protects the world from demons. Before she knows it she’s being whisked away to ‘safety’. However once they find out who and what she really is, will anyone be safe?

I loved this book, it was a very enjoyable read and Meda was a great character. You could really relate to the battles going on inside her and the reasons why she has done what she has done. Chi was also lots of fun to read, the way he seems to be idolised by his peers is amusing and he does seem like a great guy.  The plot flowed effortlessly and you find yourself really invested in the story and what will happen to everyone. I did not put this book down (figuratively because i read it on my laptop) from start to end and cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys urban fantasy and demon books! Great Read 🙂

  1. I’m so glad you enjoyed it! This was one of the best books I’ve gotten from NetGalley, and now I actually have a coupon at Barnes and Noble (yay for Black Friday sales!) and plan on buying a copy when I go tomorrow.

By the way – did you cry at the end? I was a complete mess, which was a bit odd since I had been laughing at Meda’s snark the entire time. I had whiplash from this darn book – in a good way!
