top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a Weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where each week a topic is given and we have to reply with ten answers.

This Week’s Question: Top Ten All Time Favorite Books in the YA Genre

Right so this was a hard question to start back up with, especially because i sometimes have trouble trying to define what the genre of particular  books actually are. Also choosing a genre that people are interested in and then choosing only 10 books from that area. Also there will be lots of books on the list that i’ve talked about a lot previously. I haven’t really read much in a while so apologies for using the same books. I plan on getting more caught up with the current trends soon. (if anyone has any recommendations let me know!) So with that lets go:

10. Divergent by Veronica Roth

I loved this book the first time i read it and still do, i’m still bumbling through Allegiant and still not really sure what i think of it. Hopefully i’ll end up loving it as much as i did the first book in the series.

9. Vampire Academy

Another book you’ve heard me go on and on about. This book solidified my love of all things vampire (except for the ridiculous sparkly kind) and this list would not be complete without me mentioning this series at least once.

8. Impostor by Susanne Winnacker

impostor

This book was the last book i reviewed before my impromptu absence and i really enjoyed reading about this book and what the characters were going through. Definitely something i would recommend 🙂 (Plus the cover is really pretty)

7. The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa

I was worried when i heard about the “spin-off” series from The Iron Fey, because i really enjoyed the first series and was worried that the second series wouldn’t really have an identity of it’s own. However i was definitely wrong and this series would be a great stand-alone series without even needing to read about Meghan and her adventures before (though i would still recommend taking a look!)

6. Wither by Lauren DeStefano

wither

Wow, Wither really opened my eyes about the potential future of mankind is we continue to mess around with technology and the human body. That and it was just an awesome book. It’s not for the faint of heart or those that cannot deal with sadness, however i absolutely adored it. The only reason this isn’t higher up the list is due to my dislike of the next book in the series.

5. The Selection by Kiera Cass

the selection

I absolutely cannot wait for the release of The One. I still haven’t read The Elite, however i feel like i need to soon, i’m becoming too impatient! This book had lots of light-hearted fun in and is definitely something that i will pick up and read over and over.

4. Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter

alice in zombieland

Well, if your not already aware of my massive obsession with Alice in Wonderland retellings, you haven’t spent enough time on the blog :). I picked up this story hopping for a great retelling with an awesome zombie or two added into the mix. What i got was so much more. I wouldn’t call this a retelling at all, but an entirely different story, and an awesome one at that. The Zombie part is definitely the main focus of this book and is definitely worth a read.

3. Angelfall by Susan Ee

angelfall

I still have yet to read World After, i’ve had it for over 2 months now and i don’t know what i wrong with me. Angelfall was such a great success and i loved the book so much that i think i may be worried that i will be disappointed with World After. Regardless, if you have yet to check this book out (and i hope you haven’t) then go buy it yesterday and read it so we can talk more about it. If you didn’t enjoy it, that’s your opinion, though i’m struggling to find people that did(/didn’t? i’m confusing myself, i mean that most people i have talked too really enjoyed the book)!

2. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

throne of glass

I love a good fantasy book, throw in assassins and a tournament and just plain awesomeness and i’m hooked. I really need to read Crown of Midnight soon and would recommend this book to any fantasy fans!

1. Splintered by A.G. Howard

Splintered

What do i really need to say? I’ve talked about this book and praised it so much that i think you all know what i mean. This book has everything that i love in a book: Alice in Wonderland Retelling? Check, Craziness? Check, Hot as Hell Morpheus? Check. What more could you really want? 🙂

What are your top ten this week?
