August Random Reads 2014

Random Reads is a monthly meme hosted by I’m Loving Books in which you use a random number generator (i.e. to select a book from your to read shelf that month.

Last month i decided to try and do two random reads and as a result, two books were chosen. The first was Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder which i read and finished and thoroughly enjoyed (review coming soon), the second was Don’t Even Think About It by Sarah Mlynowski. Even though i was super excited to finally get around to reading this book, unfortunately it didn’t happen for whatever reason so it’s being tagged along to my reads for this month, with the hope of me actually finishing the book :). Now onto the actual number draw, i’m going to aim for two books again this month, hopefully it will go better than last months 🙂

Our winners are:

#35 – Teardrop by Lauren Kate

Synopsis: “Never, ever cry… Seventeen-year-old Eureka won’t let anyone close enough to feel her pain. After her mother was killed in a freak accident, the things she used to love hold no meaning. She wants to escape, but one thing holds her back: Ander, the boy who is everywhere she goes, whose turquoise eyes are like the ocean. And then Eureka uncovers an ancient tale of romance and heartbreak, about a girl who cried an entire continent into the sea. Suddenly her mother’s death and Ander’s appearance seem connected, and her life takes on dark undercurrents that don’t make sense. Can everything you love be washed away?

I’ve had this book for ages, i first requested it on Netgalley and received it and then won it on Goodreads, however have still not gotten around to reading it. Hopefully this will change soon 🙂

#140 – Jinni’s Wish by Marie Hall

Jinni's Wish

Synopsis: “A long, long time ago there lived a man. A Jinni, who had one wish. To know love. But the woman he thought he knew betrayed him and the love he thought they shared. Tortured for his crimes, he was cast out of Kingdom, stripped of all his powers, left to langour in pain and solitude, until eventually he becomes nothing but a ghost… Paz Lopez is an artist with a dream. To buy a ridiculously large penthouse in the swankiest section of Chicago. But there’s just one hitch, she has no man to share her dream with. A fateful visit to a carnival and Madam Pandora’s tent sends Paz on a mission to find the love of her life before it’s too late. But the Madam forgot to tell Paz one very important detail… to meet him, Paz will have to die first.

I have really enjoyed the Kingdom series so far, i haven’t quite yet finished Red and Her Wolf, so will need to finish that off before i start on this instalment, however am looking forward to great things 🙂

Overall, i’m extremely excited about these two books and will try to do better this month compared to last 🙂
