February 2015 Random Reads

Random Reads

Random Reads is a monthly meme hosted by I’m Loving Books in which you use a random number generator (i.e. random.org) to select a book from your to read shelf that month.

So i haven’t really accomplished any of my random reads goals so far…however i’m hoping a new year will get me back on track. I’m going to aim to read one physical book and one e-book for random reads so now lets see what we get!

Our winners are:

#97 – The Crown (Queen of Hearts) by Colleen Oakes

Queen of Hearts

Synopsis: “As Princess of Wonderland Palace and the future Queen of Hearts, Dinah’s days are an endless monotony of tea, tarts, and a stream of vicious humiliations at the hands of her father, the King of Hearts. The only highlight of her days is visiting Wardley, her childhood best friend, the future Knave of Hearts — and the love of her life.

When an enchanting stranger arrives at the Palace, Dinah watches as everything she’s ever wanted threatens to crumble. As her coronation date approaches, a series of suspicious and bloody events suggests that something sinister stirs in the whimsical halls of Wonderland. It’s up to Dinah to unravel the mysteries that lurk both inside and under the Palace before she loses her own head to a clever and faceless foe.

Yay, i love Alice in Wonderland retellings and was most likely planning on reading this book anyway. Here’s hoping its as good as it looks 🙂

#179 – Frostfire by Amanda Hocking

Synopsis: “Bryn Aven is an outcast among the Kanin, the most powerful of the troll tribes.

Set apart by her heritage and her past, Bryn is a tracker who’s determined to become a respected part of her world. She has just one goal: become a member of the elite King’s Guard to protect the royal family. She’s not going to let anything stand in her way, not even a forbidden romance with her boss Ridley Dresden.

But all her plans for the future are put on hold when Konstantin– a fallen hero she once loved – begins kidnapping changelings. Bryn is sent in to help stop him, but will she lose her heart in the process?

Danielle L. Jensen’s Stolen Songbird was one of my favourite reads last year and was one of the first stories i’d really read about trolls. Here’s hoping this book can follow in suite and get my gripped!
