So first of all, apologies for my lack of posts/everything lately. I’m using the excuse that my Masters year of uni is crazy and i’m pretty much working 9am-11pm most days so haven’t had much time for reading and posting. However i’ve been really missing blogging and reading lately so am going to try and be a bit more active. We’ll see how it goes 🙂
This year i’ve decided that i want to do a post at the beginning of each month highlighting some of the upcoming releases of that month i’m most looking forward to. I’m definitely going to miss some great books out so please let me know what i’ve missed so i can check it out later!
My Most Anticipated Releases of February 2015 (in no particular order):
5. City in Ember by Stacey Marie Brown
(Publishing: 4th February 2015 by Twisted Fairy Publishing)
I’m really hoping this book lives up to my expectations. It follows Zoe, a girl who can see the Fae and is hired by a government agency called the Department of Molecular Genetics to catch and experiment on the fae in order to save human lives. However it seems like something happens (probably the fae don’t like being experimented on) and Zoe is forced to run with a “ruthless” fae called Ryker. I’m definitely interested to see what this book does with the fae and how they are portrayed.
4. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
(Publishing 10th February 2015 by Orion and HarperTeen)
This cover pretty much guaranteed i’d be interested in this book, but the plot interests me almost as much as the cover so i’m hoping for great things. It’s a fantasy in which there are basically two “races” of people, the commoners with Red Blood and the Elite and Royals with Silver Blood. Those with silver blood have special powers, which presumably helps them keep control of all the Reds. However the story follows a girl called Mare, a Red Blood who somehow has special abilities and is thrust into the world of the Silver Elite. I cannot wait to see what happens.
3. The Glass Arrow by Kristen Simmons
(Publishing on 10th February 2015 by TorTeen)
I haven’t read a high fantasy in what feels like forever and really want to get back into the genre, this seems like a great book to get me started. Females in this world are scarce, this means that from a young age they are hunted and if captured sold at the market for breeding rights. The story follows a girl called Aya who lives with a small group of women in the mountains, hiding. However it seems like she may have been captured and i really want to know what happens to her.
2. Shadow Study by Maria V. Snyder
(Publishing 24th February 2015 by MIRA)
So, many of you will probably know that the Poison Study series is one of my favourite series ever, if not my top favourite. When i heard that Maria was bringing out a further 3 books in the series i was thrilled. I can’t really go into much detail about what this is about without spoiling some major plot twists in the first three books so please go check them out. I would also recommend reading the Glass series (the books that follow on from Fire Study) before reading this book in order to fully understand the world in which this is set.
1. The Sin Eater’s Daughter by Melinda Salisbury
(Publishing: 24th February 2015 by Scholastic)
I’m kinda hoping that this book will do for my 2015 what Throne of Glass did for my 2013. It follows a girl called Twylla who lives in the castle and is engaged to the prince. This is interesting but not quite what catches my interest, you see Twylla has a fatal touch, brought upon by apparently being the goddess embodied and only the royal bloodline is immune to her power. She’s the executioner of the castle and is taken down to the cells of the prison each month to rid the city of those accused of treason. I don’t know about you, but i definitely want to find out the who, what, when, why, how of this story because it definitely feels like there is something more going on here. Also did i mention the cover? It’s gorgeous!
What are the books that your most looking forward to in February?
Thanks for reading,
